Membership Update

Dear GPBLCC Members,

GREAT NEWS!!! We will be able to open the GROUNDS ONLY on Monday, May 25th from 11 am – 9:00 pm!

As most of you know, rules and guidelines are changing literally by the second. At the time of this writing, there are the restrictions in place from the State of NJ that we need to enforce as follows:

NO SWIMMING – Swimming is not permitted in the lake, baby pool, and big pool.

NO PLAYGROUNDS – All playgrounds will be closed for use. This includes the basketball court, volleyball court, and cornhole.

NO SNACK BAR – The snack bar will not be open until further notice. However, you can bring your own food for grilling and can order delivery,

SOCIAL DISTANCING – The social distancing guidelines put in place by the state must be followed at all times while on the property. Please set up your “spot” six feet from another family. There is plenty of open space here so spread out and enjoy the outdoors!

SIGNED WAIVER – Please print out the attached below waiver and sign before entering the club. This waiver MUST be signed by each GPBLCC family (and guests!) before being allowed to enter. This will enable everyone to get in quicker and not hold anyone else up waiting in line. We will also be collecting any remaining membership dues. You must be paid in full before entering the club. If you are planning on signing up on Monday, please print out the attached membership form and have it completely filled out before coming. You may pay by check, cash, or credit card.

We are also following CDC Guidelines and trying to make things as safe as possible for everyone including:
– Hourly cleaning and sanitizing of all restrooms, door handles, heavily touched areas such as railings and benches.

– All employees will wash their hands and use hand sanitizer at least twice an hour. We hope that you will as well to do your part in keeping everyone safe. For your convenience, we have supplied hand sanitizer stations throughout the club for your use and upon entering and exiting the club.

We know this is a lot to take in! These restrictions are mandated from the state of NJ and must be followed. Again, these restrictions could change five minutes after you read this email. We will have an updated list of restrictions when you arrive on Monday. If any GPBLCC member or guest is found not to be following any of the restrictions in place, they will be asked to leave immediately and no refund will be given. This email and the waiver you sign before entering will be your only warning.

Here’s to a seeing new and familiar faces, catching up with friends, enjoying the beautiful lake (YES boats and lake equipment will be available to rent!), and finally getting to enjoy the great outdoors! Thank you for your patience and understanding! Please send any questions to membership@bellslake.com.

About Greenwood Park Bells Lake Community Club

Bells Lake is a 33 acre man-made lake and has a very long and interesting history. No one knows exactly when Bell’s Lake was created. The original owners and inhabitants were the Leni Lenape Indian tribe. The Leni Lenape tribe sold the land in the 1600’s to the English for household articles and trinkets. The property passed hands many times and was known by different names through the years. The property was usually identified by the current owner’s name and has been known as ‘Arrell Tract,’ ‘Williams Mill Pond,’ ‘Prosser’s Mill,’ and ‘Mill Pond.

Learn to Swim

The Greenwood Park Swim Club has developed swimming lessons for kids and adults that allow everyone the opportunity to learn in a safe environment, at their own pace. It’s an inviting and safe place where kids and adults overcome their fears, learn to swim, respect the water and have lots of fun while doing it. Classes are taught by certified, knowledgeable and caring instructors who can help swimmers at every level feel comfortable in the water and progress to the next level. Group and Private swim lessons are available for ages 3+.

Our Club Is Our Family

As of today, much of the wooded land surrounding the lake is still in its natural state. There are still remnants of the gristmill left behind. The boathouse was the last building of the past remaining on the property. Sailboat regattas were held on the lake every year during the 1970s. Many neighbors and club members owned sailboats and it was a beautiful sight to see the colorful sails in the summer breeze. Before the pool was put in, there were no fences and neighbors mowed right down to the lake to do their part in the upkeep of the property. Evening dances and parties were held at the clubhouse and were enjoyed by all.
